STEP BY STEP GUIDE

Using com_linker on www.cesky-web.eu as free administration site for your backlinks campaing, follow these instructions. If you want to use linker component on your own website, go here

Picture above shows the logic of Linker extension. On site, where com_linker is installed, you can manage your backlinks by creating them and adding them in groups. System simply follows this logic:

1. com_linker - installed on site from where you want to controll your backlinks
2. create groups for your backlinks - f.e. eshops, private group, sports - we used in example Group 1, Group 2, Group 3
3. create links - websites which you want participate in your campaigns - my site 1, my site 2, ...my site 6.
4. now notice that we created my site 2 into Group 1 and also in Group 2 - what does it mean? - you will see
5. so, thats for the administration part from linker component
6. now install mod_linker on my site 1, my site 2, ....my site 6
7. set up the modules - styling part is up to you, but dont forget to set the server properly (for free purposes www.cesky-web.eu)
8. open in your web browser my site 1 - what links will be displayed in linker module?
   1. my site 2
   2. my site 3
9. open in your web browser my site 2 - what links will be displayed in linker module?
   1. my site 1
   2. my site 3
   3. my site 4
   4. my site 5
10. Why ? Because my site 2 is part of Group 1 and also Group 2. Simple explanation is, that on site where mod_linker is installed will be displayed all links from all groups of which this site is memeber.
11. Be awared of one thing! Module on this site (www.cesky-web.eu) will display links only from groups, where www.cesky-web.eu is a member. That means if you create a group and add there your links, they will not be displayed in Linker module on this website untill you will add www.cesky-web.eu into your group also. We are stating this to prevent some misunderstandings in Linker extension Demo usage. Follow next steps and you will find out how to use it ;)

 

So now you can try it on your own!

1) Log in

1. Use Login: demo, password: demo - login here
   
2. Start here

2) Create a GROUP

1. You can create as many groups as you want to
2. Each group will hold its member links and you can connect groups for some site by adding this site to different groups



 

3) See a list of YOUR groups

you can see following collumns

1. Change - edit a group
2. Name - click to see list of links in this groups
3. Number of links - how many links this group have
4. Published - if it is not active, links from this group will not be used and visible on website module



4) Add a Link

1. Name - enter a name of link, this is for administration use mainly, this will not be used in displaying part on websites
2. Group - choose a group
3. Link title - since new version 1.6.0, where whole Ad is defined by wysiwyg editor(in backend administration) or textarea(in frontend - wysiwyg should arrive also here in next update), link title remained mainly for information purposes to describe the Link for admin users, also not used by module in displaying backlinks bar on website
4. URL - this is important to set correctly! Works as identificator so the website with installed module has to be registered by admin also in the component, defined by JUri::base() - use this form of URL: http://www.somedomain.tld/
5. Start date - since when will be link used
6. Finish date - up to when will it be used
7. Published - if it is active or not
8. Description - here comes the new part
   1. in backend admin - use wysiwyg to create an Ad like "Joomla! Extensions Directory"
   2. in frontend admin - write it in full way like "Joomla! Extensions <a href="http://extensions.joomla.org/">Directory</a>"





 

5) See the list of your links in your group

1. Edit - edit a link
2. Name - edit by click
3. Link title - description of link for your information
4. URL
5. Views
6. Hits
7. Published



 

6) Download and Install Linker Module

• Log in - you can use demo account (login: demo, password: demo)
• download module: mod_linker
• install mod_linker on YOUR websites, where you want to use backlinks - that should mean on all sites you have added into your Groups
• place them in desired positions on websites
• set the parametres
  1. Width - % ammount
  2. Height - in pixels
  3. Background - leave it on "transparent" if u dont have troubles with site styles and module
  4. Color - set text color, links will keep the site styles
  5. Server - set the server on which Linker component is running (if you use this site - you can, other users dont see your groups and links) set http://joomla.cesky-web.eu/ - remember to keep the slash at the end
